The Origins of Paper Treasures
Paper Treasures is a business my husband and I started to share my love of quilling. I began quilling many years ago as a hobby and a way to create unusual Christmas and Easter decorations. I taught a few classes to Girl Scouts and elementary school classes, but did not have much time for this intricate art. Now that I have retired from a full time job as an accountant, I am able to pursue what has become a passion.
My husband, Gregg, is a tremendous part of this venture. He makes (and sells) quilling tools, the metal "needle" that coils the paper. He also makes most of the display units that we use at art fairs and shows. Best of all, we go to Art Shows together! (See Calendar Page.)
Today's Focus
I design and create all of the pieces shown in the Quilling Gallery and all of the pieces that we sell. Some pieces are two-dimensional, but I really enjoy creating pieces in three dimensions. I use color and shapes to capture reality with coils and scrolls of paper. Even though I have developed an inventory, Custom Orders are welcome.
Custom Work
I love the challenge of custom design. Some clients want personalized variations of existing products. Other clients want creations which have meaning just for them. I have created special designs for organizations to use as employee gifts and fund raiser prizes. One client, about to leave for a European tour, ordered special gifts to give tour guides and bus drivers. What a wonderful idea!
